I bought these for my daughter who wears a youth size 1 or 1.5 in regular shoes. I bought size XL which should correspond to youth size 2-3. I was thinking of buying them a little bigger now, she won't stretch them and she can wear them for a while as her legs grow and they stretch with her. Unfortunately they don't work now. I know they are supposed to be snug and stretch when worn, but we couldn't even get them on her feet far enough to get the insole under the insole of her foot. When we fully retracted our toes, the elastic crossed the ball of the foot, not the ball of the foot. Also, in this position, the bases of her toes were clenched together making it look like she had bursitis because they were wrinkled and overlapping. She said she looks like one of Cinderella's stepsisters trying to get her toes stuck in something that doesn't fit. For reference, my daughter has very normal feet, not wide, not fat, and I have an older daughter who is a dancer, so my children have worn dance shoes for years and we have always found them to be close to true size (in the from 0.5 to 1 of normal shoe size). That you really need to buy more than what they say. I returned the Big Kid Footundeez in XL and we will try the adult size Petite (for 5ft women).
