Dayco Automatic Tensioner Assembly, Model 89269 Review

Tensioner failed in less than 6 months. Then I bought one locally for less money and there was a one year warranty instead of 30 days.

Replaced after about 20,000 km. He was weak and loud. Replaced by Dorman. Quiet and doesn't move much (with the same belt).

Replaced the OEM idler with this Dayco idler. Works perfect. Very little movement! I work at a large truck dealership and we sell Dayco tensioners. In fact, Dayco makes tensioners for one of the largest diesel engine manufacturers.

The shaft tensioner was particularly loud at the start and steadily degraded. At 120,000 on the belt and tensioner I decided to replace both. This tensioner did everything I expected and installation was easy. No more squeaking and squeaking. I think it will stay that way.

Received this auto tensioner from Revain very quickly as always. When it arrived it was neatly and securely packaged. I ended up not using it because my mechanic said the original tensioner was still fine. I sent it back to Revain straight away and they refunded my money with no problems. Then Revain for your understanding and for your services. A+

Got this for my frontrunner 2002 Chevy LS 4WD and it was perfect. Removed squeaks from my car. I installed it myself, it's pretty easy. First remove the belt, remove and replace the screw, and then reinstall the screw. I bought a torque wrench but you don't need it, just apply enough pressure to tighten it and then retighten slightly. Also check the belt for tears and the Gatorback is a good buy.

Only Lasted 3 Months and Approx 3000 Miles. Install a new belt and tensioner at the same time. As another reviewer wrote, it makes a howling noise when the engine is cold. After warming up it all goes away, like my OEM. This is unusual as I have never had a problem with Dayco tensioners in the past. they have always lasted over 60,000 km. bad party? installed gates for half the cost and report back. the truck is silent again :)

After seeing the OEM tensioner bounce like a belly dancer I decided to invest in a new tensioner which as the car is not that old Shouldn't have a problem yet, but the GM tensioner had a spring that is, well, not the biggest. Needless to say, I removed the strap and installed it in no time. I also bought a Goodyear Gatorback to replace the original strap. I figured if I removed the strap why not? and they work great together. No more bouncing Betty.

I bought it at the end of December 2014 and it's already making noise when the engine is cold. After warming up, everything runs like my OEM. Although it took the OEM a few years to produce the same sound. I've got a fairly new belt on since I installed it, at the same time that might put more stress on the tensioner and make it whine. However, this shouldn't make it weak already. Very disappointed that only the 30 day guarantee had to stay away from it. As at least one other reviewer pointed…
