Review on RJ Camera Camcorder Interface Universal by Matt Vanlaere

Works like a champ! Just take your time and take care of your gear.

This thing works great. Yes, it's cheaply made and feels nice, but it does its job very well! Can you do better? Yes if it was a metal C&C then some kind of coating to prevent the AIS shoe from shorting out. then it will cost much more. Oh wait, Sony makes one too and it's plastic and it breaks too, it just costs a lot more. Do you think you can easily break your leg? Yes, but then again, Sony's standard AIS shoes are designed to be snug! So it's not this adapter's fault if it breaks. You can't just reach there and pull at an angle, up, or quickly. Take your time and take care of your gear. SLOWLY push it back in a STRAIGHT line and don't jerk it at an angle. When it reaches the back of the AIS shoe, take your time and rock it gently and it will serve you with no problem. NOTE: THIS IS ONLY FOR AIS shoes! NOT a multi-interface shoe. He does NOT skip meals. Again, why would you want to drain your camera's battery by powering other devices? Sony cameras that accept other microphones typically have a 1/8" microphone jack that is powered by the camera. Again, the jack poses no problem when using an external microphone, it's Sony's native unmanaged AGC (automatic gain control). ) after connecting the microphone. So the reason for using the external hardware I use is (listed below). I put large objects on it. the dead cat) - Tascam TM-2X Mic (with and without the dead cat) - Tascam DR-100MK II digital recorder - Tascam DR-70D digital recorder - DR-70D + one of the top mounted DR-70D mics, usually top when I'm with hands (because it interferes with the camera) If I have the opportunity to mount it on a monopod or tripod, then the DR-70D is placed under the camera and the mics go up.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
