Review on πŸ“Ή Sony HDRCX405 Black Handycam Camcorder - High-Definition Video Recording by Tui Achara ᠌

Purchase failed, very dissatisfied.

I bought this camera to be able to record video in Full HD 50 frames / sec. Prior to that, I used a Canon PowerShot SX230 HS Black compact digital camera since 2022, which I shot video in HD 29 frames / sec. (the old Full HD digital camera writes only 25 fps, which no longer suits me). When filming with the Sony HDR-CX405 in sunny weather, the videos seemed to be of quite normal quality at first. Once, when I took the camera to shoot in cloudy weather, I ran into serious problems: the camera recorded all the videos with video noise that simply spoiled the whole picture, while in some places there was no clarity during the zoom (digital zoom was disabled) - it was impossible to read a single one inscription, which is located on slightly distant objects. As a result, most of the valuable videos that I shot that day were simply ruined by the lousy recording quality of this camera. After that, I came to the conclusion that this camera shoots video much worse than my old Canon PowerShot SX230 HS digital camera, which even records video in HD 30 frames / sec, but with significant clarity and without video noise. I highly do not recommend this camcorder for those who are fond of video filming: the manufacturer saved on everything that was possible and at the same time, as always, presented everything very beautifully, so that they would only buy.

Pros
  • good stabilizer
Cons
  • the camera is not suitable for shooting in cloudy weather (not to mention twilight or darkness), it makes a lot of noise, in some places it loses sharpness when zooming. In addition, when setting the camera to the maximum video quality, the camera writes the mts. format, which is also very inconvenient to work with: you have to convert the video to a normal mp4 format. Inconvenient manual settings that are deeply hidden somewhere in the middle of the menu (sometimes sometimes you have to press the joystick as many as 12 times to get to the desired menu and manually adjust the desired video parameters)
