Degrades the signal, slows down the internet.

Comcast tech just left. I'll skip the details and get to the point. With the coax going through this before going to the modem, my DL speeds ranged from 33 to 93 Mbps, which is well below what we pay for. Direct connection from coaxial cable to modem speed dl'd was/is 430 Mb/s. Seen on a service call he's happy because he knows he can solve a customer problem quickly Disappointing because in 5 years we've had 2 lightning strikes that blew earlier Modems and computer and TV ethernet connections, but since I usually work with files larger than 40GB, I need full speed. I cry for I have a version of this type of protection from several other brands that I will test one day, but for this particular model I can report that it continually and repeatedly slows things down by a significant amount. Actually let me add some technical information: I contacted Motorola technical support and the readings we got from the modem showed it was receiving a poor signal, a signal to noise ratio of -26 to -37dB with it very high error rate. on some channels. With no signal going through this protection, Comcast measured -45 dB, which is within the recommended specs for this modem (they recommend a minimum of -40).
