Not exactly what I need

I bought this to power my electric smoker almost a year ago. The thermostat that came with the smoker wasn't very accurate and I kept adjusting the knob to set the target temperature. end (min/max range) and it should keep everything nice and warm in the smoker. Problem #1: Accuracy decreased by about 12 degrees Fahrenheit. I've tested this with two of my other digital thermometers that I use to check the temperature of meat. . This sensor consistently reads about 12 degrees colder than the actual temperature. It includes a "Calibrate" method by applying an offset value, but it seems a bit crappy and seems like it never maintained a good accurate reading. Problem #2: When I smoke. When I'm a smoker (which, let's be honest, you mostly are), I like to take a quick look at my temperature monitors and see what they read. This particular controller is very annoying. "Special feature?" . causing the display to turn off after about 30 seconds. You have to keep pressing the button on the controller to turn the display back on and when monitoring low temperatures. this is real pain. There should be a way around this. I recently took out the smoker and worked with it and found it harder than ever to keep the temperature stable within my target range. I ended up just removing it and the electric heater and adding a charcoal/wood smoker to the unit. I also added a wireless temperature sensor to monitor the smoker's temperature and it works like a champ. So this controller may have a good niche for certain applications, but at least in my case for my smoker. didn't work well at all.
