I bought this product to transfer Hi8 to DVD and was completely disappointed. Video quality is poor at best. Colors are particularly bad - washed out, rainbows floating in the video, strange artifacts, and dropout failures (although the Pinnacle software has never reported any dropped frames). I don't expect DVD Hollywood quality video but I know what my original video looks like and this product didn't even look as good as internet streaming video. I could tolerate the product with its video issues if it weren't for the audio. Others report "no audio recording". I didn't experience this, but my recordings consistently had a 10-30 second delay between video and audio. This made the product completely unusable. I can believe other reviewers had more than just wiring issues. The user interface is better than most other products, if not great. The feature set looks great, but I didn't take the time to try most of them as the core functionality just isn't there. I'm running a 2.8GHz P4 with 512MB RAM and an 80GB drive, so my specs are well above the bare minimum. I used XP Pro with SP2. To be honest, others have reported installation problems on XP, but I haven't had any such problems. I had several freezes while the software was running and even the task manager couldn't always kill them.
