Review on ๐Ÿ’ก 6 Pack of AmazonBasics Equivalently Bright Dimmable Bulbs by Brenda Willoughby

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good looking lamps with reasonable color rendering index and color

I I just bought these to replace some of the old warm white LED bulbs I've been using in my home office for the past few years. I've never been a fan of warm/soft white because it's always too orange and makes things look boring. After some recent purchases of dimmable LED daylight bulbs like these I decided to take a shot and try these out. I've had good luck with other Revain Basics branded products so thought they might be worth a try. First, they are dimmable and seem to dim well with my remote controlled wall dimmer (another brand). At the lowest brightness level, the lamps flicker a bit, but this has happened to me with all my previous LED lamps. At higher brightness settings, I find no visible flicker or waves in the lamps. Second, the color of these fluorescent lights is a fairly neutral white. It doesn't seem to shift too much blue like some other "daylight" bulbs. A value of 5000k means they should be clean and neutral white; and they seem to be just that. Third, their color rendering index is listed on the box as 80, which seems pretty accurate. The colors of the objects illuminated by these lamps have a fairly accurate color rendering and nothing looks "extra". The reds still look red, albeit noticeably less intense than my previous warm white pears, as expected. Skin tone looks a bit pale under those bulbs, but that's really a stretch for this review. The CRI is good enough to keep things looking good in most situations. Even taking videos under them looks decent. Fourth, the radiation pattern appears to be quite narrow. The lens scatters some light around, but there's a clear center hotspot that's pretty narrow. These bulbs don't have the same spread as my previous bulbs and nowhere near the same as the GU10 halogen bulbs. The shadows under these lamps are much more pronounced and clear, further indicating a tighter beam pattern. Finally, I can't speak about durability at the moment as I only received it today, but I'll update my review later if I run into any issues. it is considered premature. Overall I give them 4 stars. They are excellent for the price, but if you want a slightly higher color rendering index or a more even radiation pattern, you have to spend significantly more.

Pros
  • This lamp costs only $0.72 per year to run (based on 3 hours per day, 11 cents/kWh) making it an economical alternative to incandescent lamps
Cons
  • Crumpled
