I have transformed this box into a beautiful cosmetic box with dark stain and lacquer on the outside and white gloss enamel on the inside. I'm an experienced carpenter and finisher, so here are a few details from that perspective: The quality of the grain is not very good. Not a deal breaker for many. And I knew it could be. Luckily the best parts are glued on the front and top (as it should be). Some glue squeezed out at the inner joint, which I let dry, making it impossible to paint the inside. There were also a few other spots where the glue or epoxy scraped off to the surface but filled the pores of the wood and prevented the stain from getting in without further work. All of this indicates that I am not upset. It was made the way I wanted it and as I don't have space to open my shop right now it's ok. I'm probably a bit pickier than most. Be careful not to overtighten the screws as the hardware bends very easily.
