Questionable shielding in low voltage CNC applications

I use this on my DIY CNC system and most of the cable was used to extend the stepper motor cables. This part seems to work fine. I've also used this cable to trigger the pause and start buttons on an Arduino based (5V) system, but it picks up noise when I trigger the spindle VFD. I quickly and randomly pause and start. Spent a lot of time troubleshooting. After pulling the cord at the maximum distance from the VFD on the other side of the table, the situation improved. It's not exactly good, but I hope some ferrite cores can handle it. Don't expect this cable to have good shielding and you can still run into problems if you have a high EMI source. I should have spent 2 or 3 times as much and gotten a better cable.

Pros
  • SHIELDED 4-WIRE CABLE: Reduce interference with CNC spindle motors or stepper motor drivers!
