Economical wiring, but not very easy to solder

As someone else pointed out, wire doesn't take solder well. By the time the wire is hot enough to actually soak the solder, the plastic sheath will begin to melt. Very strange, and I've tried lead, lead-free, all types of solder.

Pros
  • STRONG AND FLEXIBLE: A stepper motor cable designed for smooth flexing in a CNC or 3D printer circuit!
Cons
  • confused

Avoid! Incorrect description, cannot be soldered

No copper wire! it is aluminum coated. Which leads to an almost instantaneous failure: the wires break just before soldering. I tried different refills, rosin or not, high or low temperature = same results. Reassemble my entire CNC due to too many crashes.

Pros
  • BEST RESULTS: Shielded cable means better quality for your 3D printer, CNC machine or CNC controller.
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Aluminum Wire in Power Cables

The description of this product could not be further from the truth! This is copper coated aluminum wire. If you bring a lighter to it, the copper will burn immediately. It cannot be contained and cannot withstand the same force as copper. Due to aluminum's properties, it also tends to generate more EMI. This listing should be flagged as selling counterfeit products.

Pros
  • SUITABLE FOR ALL STEPPER MOTORS: Nema 17 Stepper Motor, Nema 23 Stepper Motor, Stepper Motor and more!
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Speaker Wire - Not Flexible

I guess people who love this for CNC steppers aren't as concerned about long term use and flexibility as I am, but this is a speaker cable. It's a relatively rigid plastic body that hardly flexes, and certainly not something that maintains a small bend radius in a cable chain. It's certainly a cheap solution - 1/4 the price of IGUS CF6-07-04 - but is it worth it in the long run?

Pros
  • STEP MOTOR WIRE: Ideal addition to any CNC kit, CNC router kit or CNC stepper motor kit.
Cons
  • No automatic

Questionable shielding in low voltage CNC applications

I use this on my DIY CNC system and most of the cable was used to extend the stepper motor cables. This part seems to work fine. I've also used this cable to trigger the pause and start buttons on an Arduino based (5V) system, but it picks up noise when I trigger the spindle VFD. I quickly and randomly pause and start. Spent a lot of time troubleshooting. After pulling the cord at the maximum distance from the VFD on the other side of the table, the situation improved. It's not exactly good…

Pros
  • SHIELDED 4-WIRE CABLE: Reduce interference with CNC spindle motors or stepper motor drivers!
Cons
  • Something else
