I have 2 30 lb dogs. I took the small size according to the measurements. The problem is, my hellions have paws that look like dinner plates and knuckles that look like twigs. I can't wrap them around my ankles tight enough to keep them secure. I love them, they work for a short time and they are cute when on. I think if I got them again I would ignore the paw size and take a very small one. Maybe they have tighter ankles? I bought them for street salt in Manhattan so at least I don't have to worry about losing them in snowdrifts, they just slide off when I walk. So when buying, consider the leg to paw ratio and maybe buy by the size of the legs.
