This light has no motion sensor. So if you're looking for a motion-activated night light, this isn't for you. This turns on at dusk or in the dark and stays on until the room is light again. You can adjust the brightness based on how well you need to see in the dark. I use them to illuminate the bathroom at night and the brightness around 50% is ideal to sufficiently illuminate the whole bathroom but not too bright for sleepy eyes.
