I used slackware for quite a while and when I found out about Slackel, I have to admit that it was a nice surprise, since I didn't know that Slackware has a similar product. It has the same spirit, the same philosophy. The only difference is that in Slackware you have to manually install all the necessary packages for your system. But in Slackel you are guided and you can have everything prepared, and everything is available in the repository. It is a bit hard to configure some tools, for example mutt. But once you learn it, it's really easy. I am using it with my raspberry pi to do a home monitoring, and it works well, I am satisfied with the product. I am monitoring my home, my car, my home heating, the garden, and everything is well. I like that it's very light weight, fast to boot up (which you don't really need in this day & age), easy install/upgrade of software packages via apt-get or yum commands are all great features! The fact there isn't much support for non English speakers can be an issue at times when trying figure out how something works because they're not always as helpful if english doesn;t work well enough. But other than those two things everything else about slakle has been fantastic so far!!
