Ok there are better ones

A few things I didn't like (bought for my 21 month old for a flight) 1) as other reviewers say it's noisy. Very cheap plastic 2) it's bulky. 3) Shapes are comfortable for children. My 21 month old had no problems and had parts in the right places in less than 5 minutes.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Something different

Toddler's Disappointment

Like 2-way zipper for extra fine motor skills training, but pocket isn't deep enough. Sometimes the shapes don't fit completely in the holes (Figure 1) because they're made of a material rather than commercially available plastic (which is nice because it won't break if you step on it). Or, when lifted, the pieces will fall down, preventing you from inserting the bottom pieces into the holes (Figure 2). Causes some irritation to the baby.

Pros
  • Outstanding Overall
Cons
  • Quality

Poor design in early developmental and activity toys

Let me start by saying that we usually love Melissa and Doug products which is why I was so disappointed with this one. It's so badly designed. As other reviewers have noted (and I should have listened to them) the box is too small and this causes frustration for toddlers playing with it as the shapes have nowhere to go. An adult must sit and shake the box each time to make room for the next one. Really disappointing product with so much potential.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I'll write later

both enjoyed playing with it

took it on a month long trip abroad with my 22 month old and 7 month old children. Since each of their needs takes up so much space, the toy is limited to a few versatile basics. I thought it was bought for an almost 2 year old, they both loved playing with it. In particular an almost 2 year old who loves to practice shapes. It is small and foldable, making it convenient to take with you on the go. We've used it on international flights and in hotel rooms at night to keep the kids entertained.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • so far so good

Educational and fun toy for first year and above

The perfect educational toy for my 5.5 month old baby to have fun and learn on all year round. The cover is cute, soft and safe for my baby. My baby enjoys watching the cover shake, he can play with the tabs on the back either sitting or lying on his stomach. The only downside is that the case isn't very deep so it can be difficult to push through the shapes as they don't "fall" and sometimes when you turn the case over the shapes fall out. Overall a great product that I would buy again.

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Great idea, minor flaw

Our son loves shape sorters and we were looking for one to travel with us. So far this fits as it's the only model that zips up to ensure no detail gets lost. However, there is one design flaw that rather frustrates our almost two-year-old. The pocket is not deep enough. And by that I mean that once you hit the 4th figure, you have to shake the pack a little to put in the next figure, since there's usually a chunk in the way. It's ok if the parents are willing to help, but when our little one…

We didn't like: Toy for early development and activity

Bought this to entertain my 18 month old on a long flight 2 years ago. In the end we didn't take it because so many parts can get lost, the toy makes a loud noise when shaken (all hollow plastic parts) and my toddler was disappointed when it was pushed through the molds as it's fabric, foldable and is too small . . Fast forward 2 years and now I have 2 toddlers and I still hate this toy. I really want to like it because we love Melissa and Doug's toys and we travel a lot so portable toys are…

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Not as thick as other toys

I'm sticking with it because of the lack of good travel toys

Pros: 1. The colors are very vivid. Probably one of the few travel toys available online.3. Has most of the shapes and related items you would want to teach your lo4. The depth of the backpack didn't really bother me. Sure, a deeper pocket would make sense, but I'll put it on the table and let my 17-month-old play with it. Cons: 1. Shapes tend to fall out of the bag if you go with the bag and aren't alert2. The toy is not very interesting. I had to keep getting my son to do it. He got tired of…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Best Shape Sorter and More

This was a Christmas present for my six month old baby. Now she is one year old and still her favorite toy. It has great features: it is a great travel toy, many ways to play; Sorting by shape or just loading and unloading, she likes the little doggy style zipper and the other side has crumpled flaps that can be lifted and pictures to explore shapes and colors. Everything is soft except for the side with shape holes so this makes a great playpen toy, unlike most shape sorters which are hard…

  • One Year Trial
