I first bought this to connect my Wii to my surround receiver's HDMI port using component cables. It didn't work but it's my fault I misread the description. It looks like this company also makes another component to HDMI adapter, but it may not be available on Amazon. I also have an HDMI-only Blu-ray player in another room that I had to connect to a surround receiver that only had component inputs. The adapter worked, but there were a lot of small white dots in the picture. Without the points, everything would probably have worked. The final issue is that the description says it's low power and then no power, which makes you think it's a passive device. This requires a power source and comes with a USB cable for this purpose. Remember that the USB cable is the only power cord included. So if there is no USB port nearby, you need an extra USB cable adapter. The wires and ends are nothing special, but they pretty much met my expectations.
