Review on Progress Lighting Incandescent Shallow Housing by Kyle Miller

Revainrating 3 out of 5

There are no instructions, the levers might be too long and the socket won't engage

I ordered 4 pieces and had some problems.1. They came with no instructions and it took me quite a while to figure out how to open the switch box to do the wiring. The box is unusual for any homeowner who used to do some home improvement installations. Instructions would save me time.2. You have to buy cable plugs - none of them are built in like many boxes these days.3. The socket is connected to a wide piece of metal with ribbed ends that is held in place by squeezing a relatively smooth metal surface inside the housing. There doesn't seem to be a way to fix it. I'm not even sure how to connect it to the cone you buy separately. Maybe some parts are missing because there are metal flaps on the side of the case that maybe necessary to keep things in place? Without instructions, it is impossible to tell what purpose they serve.4. I had to change the length of the arms with metal snips and take out the pieces of metal that slide between them because my joists are 1 inch closer together than the length of the arms. I hope this works out eventually, but right now I'm a little worried that the light will hang on the wires every now and then.
