Review on Yamaha Torque Clutch Golf Cart by David Dortch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you have a big, powerful upgrade like a 433ss snowmobile engine in mine, THIS IS THE PIN.

If you have a stock engine (10hp or less) then this is not for you! If you have a big, powerful upgrade like a 433ss snowmobile engine in mine - THEN THAT'S GREAT. The original could not hold 40 hp. before slipping under power. The clutch would just open fully, slip until top gear was engaged, then try to engage with a huge difference in pulley speed so the drive belt never had a chance to engage. The spring differs in that it is much stiffer and the ends of the spring are flat. The original had half-inch curved fingers on the ends that lined up on each side of the drive. It's not a problem, I installed it on the g2 but it happens on many models/clutches. Make sure you put a gasket in the coupling between the gearbox, it moves in the right direction and the splines fit together. The locking ring does not reset at all. Check out the homemade golf cart video, it's not exactly the same hitch as mine, but the principle is the same.

Pros
  • This high torque clutch spring provides lower torque for your golf cart. This makes the golf cart easier to maneuver uphill and provides a smooth lift and start.
Cons
  • Not bad
