After receiving this product, I immediately went to wash it, as one should do with a product that contains products. All I used was running water and a washcloth, and somehow the water got between the plastic and metal on the lid anyway. I didn't notice this problem until the next day when I started filling the jars and noticed water leaking from the lid. I tried drying them with a towel but it was almost impossible to get the water out between the plastic and metal. To make matters worse, although I'd washed them less than 24 hours ago, some of them had already started to rust from the water. I think that's why some people complain about not being able to turn or remove the covers after washing. I've been using these cans for a while as they are probably rusty. I'm sure they'll probably rust pretty quickly in a wetter environment. If you are reading this review and still considering buying it, I recommend only washing it with a damp cloth, not submerging it or even using running water. My fridge is fine and they seemed to store condiments well. However, it kills me when I can't properly clean something that contains food.
