Quick and easy installation with a free PCIe X1 slot and motherboard power connector.

I have my own computer which I built from scratch in 2009. It has an ASUS motherboard with an Intel Quad/4 processor and I've added an ATI Radian graphics card. I'm running Windows 10 Home 64-bit on it and it serves me well. I recently purchased a WD 12TB USB 3.0 external hard drive to use as backup storage for all my data on my home network. The motherboard only had USB 2.0 ports and the file transfer speed was very slow. Rather than spend a few hundred dollars to buy or build a new computer, I decided to get and install a USB 3.0 PCIe x1 interface for my computer. personal computer This USB 3.0 interface card was easy to install on my motherboard which had a free PCIe X1 expansion slot. I also had a spare power adapter plug that I could plug into the USB 3.0 board so it could power any device that needed extra power. I connected my WD USB hard drive to the new USB 3.0 port and turned on my computer. At first, Windows didn't see the new USB 3.0 connection and the interface card showed missing driver errors in Device Manager. But after running Windows Update from the main Windows Settings screen, new interface drivers were installed and Device Manager recognized the new USB 3.0 device. My WD external hard drive works fine and I'm happy with this purchase. Now I need to see where I can get front panel USB 3.0 ports to mount on the front of my full size computer case.

Pros
  • Ultra Fast - Two USB 3.0 ports + 19-pin connector, supports data transfer rates up to 5Gbps.
Cons
