Weston Vacuum Sealer 65-0501

Please note - this machine appears to be a newer version of the Weston Professional Advantage. They have the same model number. I chose the Weston primarily because of its positive review in Cooks Illustrated magazine over other models (if you're unfamiliar with CI reviews, they're pretty detailed). This model uses a more powerful vacuum motor, which draws in more air and keeps food fresher for longer - a statement that is confirmed in the test. The controls are simple and intuitive. Weston bags and bag rolls appear to be more economical than bags offered by other brands of vacuum sealers. My personal experience with the machine has been positive. Weston Sealant's limitations are: 1) the larger motor is quite noisy and 2) it requires about 10 pounds of down force at each end to engage the flip cap. There is a video on YouTube demonstrating both of these points, so they weren't surprising to me. I spent more than I intended when I first started looking, but the Weston seems like a solid car. Weston also provides an extensive parts list on their website should repairs be necessary.
