I have tried everything to stop my 1 year old labrador from flinching. Various collars, leashes, training methods. Hundreds of dollars later, with my shoulder and elbow twisted and the icy city streets of winter approaching, I was in despair. Nothing worked until I got this halter head. A few months ago I tried the Gentle Leader Signature halter when he was much younger with no success; it was thin and he tore it off. This halter is for my big boy. He even has a martingale stretcher on his snout so he can't unhook it with his paw while walking; I suspect that's why this one doesn't come with a harness to attach the halter to a regular dog collar, as the martingale buckle doesn't tighten when the harness squeezes it. However, additional belt protection is not required with this high-performance halter. I can't take it off him if he wears it. He's used to it and still loves to pull, but he can't pull much because he has to use his head muscles (which aren't nearly as strong as his delts) to pull me. He may look like a harnessed horse, but he pulls like a Chihuahua. I love this mess! My elbow and shoulder are healing now.
