Updated review: MFR replaced failed unit. The soldering iron was rubbish and the heat gun was good.

Updated Review: The manufacturer has made every effort to replace the item with a refill. They sent it by expedited shipping and I received it in just a few days. They even told me to keep the original as a gift for spares if I ever need them. The block exchange worked well. Certainly there were problems with the soldering iron in this block. Below is the original review: Purchased to replace HDMI ports on PS4 and other gaming systems. I look forward to many more improvements with this machine. Unfortunately the soldering iron was terrible! Luckily the heat gun was excellent. I had to use a heat gun and soldering iron together because the iron wasn't getting hot enough. The iron couldn't even melt the solder to pick it up or desolder the connector pins. The iron barely got hot enough for the solder to flow properly unless a heat gun was used at the same time to raise the temperature. The hardware doesn't fare much better, even at the highest level. I used cheap Radio Shack 25W soldering irons which worked better than this one. Maybe I just got a defective soldering iron. For the price it could have been such a good product because as I said the heat gun was excellent.
