I am very excited to own this piece of gear, for a long while I considered buying an ellipsoidal type light that are typically used in theatre productions. I've seen them on video and film productions to cast shapes to simulate a window or use a slash for some art on a commercial or talking head type video.This product does exactly what it says it does. With so many popping up on Revain after a search I'm glad I got one that works well, it makes me wonder if they all work like this.I am pleased with the options this piece of gear offers. It gets very very crisp at various distances. And takes any EF type lens but comes with one so it isn't necessary to get another, but I am curious what a longer lens would do, however it throws pretty far.The lens focus and iris adjustments work like a normal lens and soften focus and dim way down very well.The gobos are steel, either thin spring or stainless steel, I'm not sure. But they are high quality designs and appear to be laser cut. They are crisp and cast lots of fun shapes.I am very pleased to find this with a Bowens style mount, I use mine in conjunction with my Neewer CB60 full RGB 70 watt LED video light https://amzn.to/3HgcjEt it works AMAZING with it. The colors and effects are perfect with this optical spot light!Two issues with this item are as follows The lens wouldn't fully latch with a solid click, if I wasn't inquisitive about what was happening with this, my lens could and probably would fall right off. There is that little lever that is suppose to move to an upward position that pushes a small pin locking the lens in, mine is not spring loaded so I had to push the lever in to lock it, it could possibly have been my specific item that wasn't quality checked with a spring.The other issue is that one of the gobo trays have been built incorrectly as to not allow me to fit any gobos in it. At first I thought maybe this was another tray for a color gel, but I don't see any writing in the ad that suggests this and no color gels or additions besides the gobo filters are included. Luckily with my light I won't ever need any color gels since the light I'm using can do both daylight and tungsten lighting and most importantly to me any possible color needed within the light built in.In the picture you can see the size of the gobos (which are all the same size) and the size of the trays they are supposed to slide into, only one of the trays is the right size and works with them.
