Review on Economic Ender 3D Printer DIY Kit With Resume Printing Function, Large Printable Area Of 220X220X250MM By Creality 3D by Chris Destruction

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice attention to detail. First China manufacturer to have a finished product.

The packing was amazingly good in closed-cell foam cut to fit the pieces, and glued where needed. Hardware was good quality. Came with a complete set of good tools.I do machining in my spare time. This machine was very square, the CNC machining really makes a difference. The overall design is excellent. The included removable print bed adheres ABS very well. The leveling wheels are excellent, and they have nice strong springs to keep it sable. The Y axis is AL, which makes is strong. All that said, Creality needs to fix their controller board. They have +5VUSB supplying system power. There is no reason for this, since this is a 24V system. What they should have done (and I will be modfying my board) is tie +5VUSB to the FTDI VCC pin, and let the system power supply the VIO voltages. This allows you to leave the printer plugged in with an active USB serial port, without supplying power to the very bright LED backlight and most annoyingly, the 24V fan that puts out a high pitched whine. The fix is to either cut the +5V wire on a USB cable, or lift pin 20 of the FTDI part and attach to +5VUSB and remove DP2 so +5VUSB no longer supplys +5 to the rest of the system. This is the only downside to this printer. One other detail, in case Creality reads this review, is the move the NTC on the hot end to the front of the heater block (on the other side of the heater), AND put some kind of thermal compound between the heater and the block. I can see daylight between the heater and block. I moved the NTC to the front and drilled/tapped a new M3 hole so my nozzle will actually see what is being measured.Overall, quite impressed with the printer .
