Wonderful tool. But he has a trick. You will need at least a 2 inch hole in the center of the leather for it to roll. I found a YouTube video that explains how to use this tool. It took me a few minutes of frustration, but once the hole got bigger and I had the leather thread showing it was twisting, I got some laces. Success largely depends on your skin. Maybe it's not you or the instrument. Really subtle things seem to be a problem. Leather that's really uneven in thickness is also quirky. I've found that thicker strips work best for me. In general it works. Do not be afraid. I wish I could invent it.
