Review on ๐Ÿ”ง ACDelco Professional 45G9224 Front Lower Suspension Control Arm Rear Bushing: High-Quality & Durable Black Component by Daniel Truett

Good price. The metal is a bit weak.

I am very disappointed with the Beck-Arnley lower control arms which I installed on my 2003 Element about 3 years ago. The bushings that came on it showed signs of cracking in the rubber almost immediately. About a year later I got a warranty replacement for the levers as the bushings continued to deteriorate. These warranty replacements also quickly failed to the point where one side hub would completely separate from its body and the other side would fail completely, with the other side detached 3/4 of the way. I couldn't get another replacement under warranty so I decided to replace the bushings myself and keep the wishbones. The price for this bushing set was very attractive. I had trouble removing the old bushings and the new ones. The Element control arm design is terrible and doesn't have room for a press cup to force out the old bushings. I had to cut out the old ones with a hacksaw. Putting new ones in was a bit easier, but you have to slide the cup over the rubber over the metal. This caused the rubber to crack a bit, but worse, the hub metal began to bend before the hub was fully installed. I never managed to fully seat the last piece, but it was enough for it to work and be reassembled in the car. I probably just got off track a little, although I don't notice it in the handling or steering. Now for the good parts: The bushings were installed within a few weeks and had no problems. The car drives normally on them, so they do their job.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
