The Breville Vertuo Next Deluxe Dark Chrome Edition is by far the most disappointing upgrade from the Breville VertuoPlus Deluxe Silver Edition I just gave away. and looks and feels like a cheap replacement compared to other machines I've bought over the years. The VertuoPlus Deluxe was an amazing machine, great design, large amount of water that could be adjusted right or left depending on where you use it in the kitchen. The Vertuo Next has a ridiculously small water tank, if you're making 2-3 large cups of coffee you'll need to refill the machine, and since the dispenser is designed with the back of the machine in mind, it's difficult to access if you've got it flush with your kitchen table . The overall depth of the Vertuo Next and too much now is extremely poor design overall. The nicest feature of the VertuoPlus Deluxe is the one-touch electronic opening, which was a great upgrade over the original Vertuo Chrome. With the new Vertuo Next, you have to push it left or right to open or close it, and it's extremely difficult to control. You have to hold the device, which means you have to fingerprint the chrome to hold the car to open or close. In fact, my wife has trouble opening or closing it at all, so it's very frustrating for her. The Vertuo Next's new pod dispenser is also terrible, when you open the top of the machine it dispenses the old pods into the pod waste bin and unlike all other machines the excess coffee when dispensing pods also drips into the pod bin. Didn't realize it until I emptied the bin and the coffee spilled all over the place. Finally, the Vertuo Next is the noisiest machine ever, and it really disappoints, and when it makes coffee, that's where the froth the machine produces starts. Pauses before the coffee is brewed. I decided to upgrade and bought this machine because of the new pour over decanter I've been waiting for. Unfortunately this is my second day of ownership and I haven't even tried the carafe but with all the functionality and quality issues with the new Vertuo Next I don't know what to do. I gave my Breville VertuoPlus Deluxe Silver to my sister-in-law because she loves coffee, but now I feel like I have an inferior, cheap product that I would never have made myself in a million years, although Nespresso will ever make it. Nespresso coffee is superior to anything but going to the barista and this brand has always been top notch. I feel like I need to reconsider my position.
