When Ronin (baby pictured) joined our family he had an exercise bike in his cage, the largest available at our local pet store. This wheel had a center post and a wire stand attached to it. Ronin loves to run. He especially likes to run between 1am and 3am. A smaller wheel with center post and wire base got louder as this hedgehog warrior practiced into the wee hours. Also, it's now about twice the size of the photo, so we were concerned about the possibility of the B-pillar causing a spinal injury. a few hours, do not buy this wheel. He spins so quietly that his less intense brother in the cage next to him can't be heard using his. However, it spins so easily that Ronin can run so fast and aggressively that he shakes his cage and makes a sound like a washing machine spinning through the house. The creaking of the old, less efficient wheel is unmistakable, but sometimes we need to turn on the lights to calm Ronin down. Very impressed with the ease of setup and cleaning, as well as its ability to withstand the fuss that Ronin has.
