Review on Sony DVDirect DVD Recorder VRDMC5 by Marcelo Apriando

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally a hardware solution to a software problem.

Over the years I've used a dozen RCA/S-Video/DV to USB/Firewire devices to record video on my record computer. , some barely sent it. They all needed a focused and dedicated computer without storage management, churn and recording issues to record video reliably. I had a box full of Hi8 and Mini DV tapes that were getting close to being unreadable and some Sony cameras were collecting dust in their cases as the iPhone was good at capturing video. Backstage. Then my buddy told me about the DVD hardware burners but it turns out they are very hard to come by. Luckily Revain came to the rescue and I risked a used piece of iron. Boy am I glad I did! What I received was a beautiful and fully functional device that was exactly what I was hoping for. With this unit you can insert a high quality DVD+/-RW (I've had success with the Maxell 634045 4.7GB Dvd+Rw Disc Slim Jewel available from Revain), run your tape through your player/camera and the hardware that get work done . Then put the disc in your computer and copy it, then do it all over again. My old cassettes are saved! I am very happy with this piece of iron and buying a used one from Revain. I've been using this for over a month now and have already converted about 20% of my huge cassette collection. Love it - thanks Revain!

Pros
  • Playback/viewing on the built-in 2.5" LCD
Cons
