Copy Hi8 Tapes to DVD Easily!

This product is fantastic! It's so easy to use, it's amazing. I was able to start copying my old Hi8 camcorders to DVD in minutes. And the results are amazing! I played my first DVD on a 52" 1080p LCD TV and Blu-ray player and the DVD videos copied from my 12 year old Hi8 cassettes looked absolutely amazing! I could not believe my eyes! Menu to help you with quick setup. Aesthetically, it's a modest little device, but it's very well thought out, trivially easy to use, and fairly versatile. And…

Pros
  • Back up digital photos to DVD or create photo slideshows to DVD from a memory card or Sony HDD/Memory Stick Handycam via USB
Cons
  • I'm pissed off

Sony VRDMC5 ROCKS DVD Recorder

I had no problems getting started with this product, unlike the days when I downloaded a video onto my computer and then had to wait hours for it to be converted and burned to a DVD. Purchased primarily for copying old DV and VHS tapes to DVD, this unit is non-editable and primarily intended for burning finished video to DVD from the DV analog input or from a flash drive. Connect the video inputs, insert a DVD, select the format (pause while the format is written), press the red button and go…

Pros
  • Full support for 4:3 full screen or 16:9 wide screen and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
Cons
  • Null

Experimenting with a Canon HF-10 camcorder

I bought this DVD recorder mainly to archive dozens of my VHS tapes to DVD. He does a great job with that! I also have a Canon model HF-10 HD camcorder. I didn't buy the Canon DVD burner recommended for the HF-10 because it didn't seem as versatile or didn't connect to a VHS player. The Sony VRDMC5 works very well with inputs from my VHS players via yellow video and audio. red/white cable. Very convenient. I haven't tried the S-cable connection yet. The Sony VRDMC5 can also record directly from

Pros
  • Record AVCHD video from a Sony HDD/MemoryStick Handycam camcorder to DVD
Cons
  • Update available

Finally a hardware solution to a software problem.

Over the years I've used a dozen RCA/S-Video/DV to USB/Firewire devices to record video on my record computer. , some barely sent it. They all needed a focused and dedicated computer without storage management, churn and recording issues to record video reliably. I had a box full of Hi8 and Mini DV tapes that were getting close to being unreadable and some Sony cameras were collecting dust in their cases as the iPhone was good at capturing video. Я решил, что пришло время снять видео с этих…

Pros
  • Playback/viewing on the built-in 2.5" LCD

Easy to use if you're not doing anything special.

Connect your camcorder with a DV cable, insert your DVD-R and press the big red button. You can watch him play (no sound) and he ejects the disc when he's done. What could be easier? Spring. the whole thing only works if you record 1 hour tape. If the tape goes to more than one disc, you'll have trouble until you figure out how to manually record and "finalize" the second disc. If you're not using a DV cable, you'll also need to capture and finalize manually. TIP: To "finalize" a disc, you can…

  • Play/view on built-in 2.5" LCD, discs created only
