Myopia disappears with age. This makes it difficult to find and focus the gun's front sight. Varifocals or bifocals force the head to tilt back to capture the nearsighted part of the lens. My eyesight is generally good at 55 (slight astigmatism) but I need cheaters to read. They are great for shooting as the low power still allows me to see the target fairly well and the front sight looks crystal clear. Now I don't need glasses or cheaters under my glasses that improve the seal around my headphones for better noise cancellation.
