Having used this set at least 3 times a week this summer (about 48 games, maybe more) I can say without a doubt that this is one of the most reliable and high quality hammers you can find . And the length of the handle is perfect for adults and teenagers. My parents bought a cheaper set and their undersized racquets began to break within 7 uses of the croquet set (although the balls are well made). The hammers in this set I'm reviewing are hardwood, not pine. ONE BIG CON: Two balls started cracking in the last week and one of them was mine. I hit really hard and the whole sphere exploded into a hundred pieces of clay (there is a densely packed clay material inside the spheres). The other ball is deformed and looks like an egg, which is likely to crack at any moment. 4 balls are still ok, but have many dents. I've found that cheap replacement croquet balls aren't easy to find, so we use balls from my parents' set (as they can't use mallets this is a good option).
