Review on W1717 3HP Horizontal Vertical Sander: Ultimate Power for Versatile Sanding by Ronnie Segobiano

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good economy sander

I've been looking for an edge sander and a spindle sander and this fits both. It was hard to look at the product description and guess things so I took a chance and bought it. I thought I'd have to redo some things (and I did) but the price didn't bother me. I didn't use it straight out of the box because I knew I would be disappointed. It looks like a great little grinder for what it does. It's just for the carpentry hobby, not for making anything. Firstly, the base is too short and light, so I made a new base. Also the tables are too light and thin. I made a one piece adjustable table, much nicer. The dust cover and corner sensor are junk so you can throw them away. But the unit's body is heavy steel, and the toe adjustment works well. I've been wanting to buy a 6x48 grinder but this 4x36 seems to be just the ticket. (along with cost savings) The only thing that bothered me was the 1/3 hp motor, but I mostly use 3/4 stock and it seems to purr through and through. Although I've only had the device for a week, I really like it. So if you don't mind spending a few hours tweaking it, I think this is a good little grinder for the money.

Pros
  • Belt size: 4" x 36"
Cons
  • Legacy model
