Absolute rubbish for heating, cooling and air quality

We had an earlier version of this heater about 12 years ago. The old version was a great, reliable, odorless little heater with an accurate thermostat. It served us for many years until one day it stopped turning. Without a doubt, we have decided to replace it with the same one. We rely on an additional heater to keep our daughter's room, which is also a tarantula room, consistently warmer than the rest of our house in the winter for our 8-legged friends. Immediately after receiving and testing this heater, we noticed an unpleasant smell of burnt plastic. This is not uncommon for today's products and I was hoping that working in a non-air conditioned room would eliminate the bad smell. We bought the heater last spring and luckily we didn't need it because it got warm soon after, but when autumn of this year came we realized that running it the previous spring hadn't eliminated the bad smell for a few hours ; It took us two weeks of daily use before the smell became bearable. Of course, the return period was long past by that point, which is a shame because it was already a deal breaker for me. I don't want a heater that will gas our child or pets. Disgusting. After several weeks of using it long hours a day in our outhouse, we decided the smell had died down enough that we were desperate for nights to hit the 20s, so we brought it inside. That's when we realized that the thermostat was absolute nonsense. Today, for example, we are experiencing warming. We have secondary thermometers all over my daughter's room. They have 72-73 degrees. The heater is set at 65 degrees and WILL NOT. BREAK. JOB. Last thing I would add is that our old heater felt like a solid piece of machinery. This thing is very light and has an unusual shape. It feels like it could be knocked over with a light touch. I don't like this heater at all. We'd rather not buy it. It's obviously made of inferior materials, from lightweight, cheap plastic that smokes when the heater is on, to a faulty thermostat. What a pity, DeLongey. I can't think of any other reason to break something that shouldn't have been fixed other than greed. The price certainly hasn't come down since we bought the DeLonghi heater, but I think someone who has switched to cheaper materials has much fatter pockets.

Pros
  • Silent system that halves the noise compared to previous De'Longhi models
Cons
  • Some difficulties
