Many uses beyond cutting boards. Excellent goods.

I love everything about this set. The smell is wonderful and once absorbed and wiped away it does not transfer to food or other items used on the boards. I used this to finish my large John Boos cherry cutting board, a cheap little acacia board I use for cheese and crackers, some bamboo utensils and surprisingly found it to be great for polishing and shining my stainless steel granite countertops. Sink and plumbing too. My boards weren't in bad shape, but they were dry and had been in bad shape for a while. I'm a vegetarian and bake a lot of bread, use my boos board to cook a lot of veggies and knead and shape the dough so it has many uses and tends to dry out especially after a few batches of bread. and then scraped off my utility knife. I've tried Boos oil and cream, but even leaving a thick layer on overnight for several nights in a row, there were areas on the board that never seemed to seal and soaked up the flavors, juices and colors of things like garlic. Onions, peppers, fruits, winter squash, etc., and no matter how fast I peeled them, how much soap I used, or what soap I used, the smell stayed, and then the smell and taste transferred to other products or my bread. Dough. No longer! I didn't use the board for about 2 weeks hoping the onions and garlic would dissolve but they were still there. First I tried Clark's soap - it rinses off quickly and easily so the board doesn't have to stay wet for long. Thereafter, no unpleasant odors were detected. Then I rubbed the layer of oil with my hands - it absorbed after 30 minutes so I added another one and let it sit overnight. Everything is soaked! The Boos Oil always left stains - wet in some places, dry or clumped in others. I quickly wiped it off with a paper towel and then used a sponge (much easier and cleaner than paper or cloth towels) to spread the wax evenly over the entire board. Leave for a few hours, then wipe lightly with a paper towel to remove excess material from the surface. It looked beautiful and is easily erased after use, nothing sticks to the board, nothing, including odors, is absorbed and doesn't stain the surface. My acacia plank has always been rough, slightly warped, with a small tear along the center seam. I used soap to give it a good clean and then put it on my desk wrapped in a damp tea towel with a Brett Boos on it for a few days to smooth it out. Then I unwrapped it and did the same process - 2 coats with oil and then wax soaked. He's like new! Now it's smooth, there are no visible cracks, it no longer absorbs moisture and cheese stains, and nothing sticks to it like it used to. The same applies to bamboo tableware. The caddy makes it easy to grab what I need and keeps the bottles upright and the sponge clean too. Very high quality made, not flimsy, some cheap pieces of wood. Also looks good on my counter. The aroma of the products is pleasant. Not that fake floral lavender smell. Smells like real lavender and rosemary in my herb garden. I accidentally took the paper towel I used to wipe excess wax off the boards to wipe off the stain on my counter and found that it polished the granite counters and cherry wood trim along the bulkhead nicely. This prompted me to try it on my sink, faucets and even my cabinets - a custom made solid natural cherry. It worked wonderfully! And it's a lot cheaper than the fancy smelly spray the granite guys sold me with the counters, and it's nice to know it's food safe. Also used the products on old/vintage furniture and frames throughout the home that were looking dull and worn. It really gave a soft shine and intensified the color making them look beautiful again. So I'm going to throw out all the cans of furniture polish, granite cleaner and polish, stainless steel polish, etc. and just use them on everything around the house. Appliances have fingerprints and water has collected in and around sinks and it took much longer than usual for white encrusted mineral deposits and our water stains to show up after using these in and around sinks. Knowing that it's safe and non-toxic when our pets or little guests touch things, or when we touch things while we're working in the kitchen, is nice too.
