I've been told that it's best to use all-plastic tubs as they are less likely to harbor bacteria. That's what I love! My child is now 1 year old and we still use it. When he was a newborn I put a towel on the pad to keep it in place and also more comfortable and I just tossed it in the wash to prevent bacterial growth. Of course anyone can slip on plastic when wet and soapy, it's ridiculous to think this can be avoided. So just put a towel under the baby and by about 6 months he will most likely learn to hold on. My son is now sitting in the white part and if he slips a bit he holds and doesn't slip.
