I'm new to polymer clay sculpting but I understand Sculpey III needs to be a soft clay to work with. I held small pieces of this clay in my hands in a 73 degree room for over 5 minutes and it stayed quite hard and crumbly when I tried to shape it. I tried processing a second small batch in a food processor and again the clay was very hard, dry, flaky and cracked around the edges. If shipped in the summer months, the clay can accidentally cook during shipping by simply leaving it in the sun or in the mailbox for too long. The Sculpey III I ordered from Revain wasn't out of its element when it arrived at my house, but I'm wondering if it happened in transit to my house. If you're ordering in the summer, be sure to bargain for your clay so it doesn't accidentally bake! Overall the Sculpey III was well priced and delivered quickly but I've deducted a star for the apparent condition of the clay (it doesn't work at the moment unless I add a little plasticizer I hope).
