Review on Smiths Adjustable Manual Knife Sharpener by Daniel Tonini

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Learn how to sharpen pocket knives by hand.

Bought to sharpen folding pocket knives that I have often. Luckily, over the years I've learned to use a variety of grinders and bench stones to get useful sharp edges on a variety of tools and knives. Among the various brands of whetstones I own, there are several Smith's sharpening products that are generally very useful and well made. This particular sharpener is not one of Smith's products that I would consider useful for sharpening knives. This fairly simple device is well thought out and I have watched YouTube tutorial videos on this sharpener and carefully read the printed instructions but to no avail. I can't get the edge type I want using only Smith's Adjustable. I still think learning how to sharpen knives by hand is the best solution. But then again, I'm an older person and maybe I just resist change. I can't say for sure.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
