I bought and installed this right before my trip from Boston to Phoenix and it worked great. I couldn't bring myself to spend $1200 on a BMW top case. It may be good, but spending that much is just wrong, which is why I chose this option and saved myself a ton of money. looks ok It fits an XL full-face helmet. It has good storage but is not too big like some cases. Overall this is a good top case, there isn't much scientific data in a big plastic box so spending a small fortune on it seems wrong to me. The only shortcoming that I attribute to the strength category. The case itself is fine and feels just as good as many others. But the latch that closes and locks the case seems to be a weak point. It's made of hard plastic that feels almost brittle, like it's about to crack if pushed in on a cold day. The plastic clasp that hooks onto the edge of the case and closes it doesn't require much force. Therefore, there is no immediate risk of breakage and should not break under normal use. Where I imagine it might break is when I'm in a hurry to close an overstuffed suitcase on a cold day (I've used it on many near-frosty days). I tend to use my gear hard. So in this case I'm trying to slow down and close it carefully without pressing the latch and I expect it will never fail that way. I really recommend this case and will buy another one for a newer BMW RT if I buy one, but I have 40,000 miles left in my current RT before it shows its age and after those miles I assume the case does is still on the back .
