Our toddler (15 months) wore them on walks and in the yard. The front is not designed for a toddler so every time it falls or gets kicked it will rip open the front. However, if you don't care what the forefoot looks like, they worked great as a first shoe! We took the squeaker off and our son put them on all the time. From 15-16 months he wore a size 5.5 in these boots. In the summer months, we liked that his feet didn't get hot or sweaty in the shoes. I am very happy that the squeaker is easy to remove! You can also just put it back in.
