Review on 12-Setting Electric Burr Coffee Grinder: Automatic Mill for 2-12 Cups, Stainless Steel, Precise Grind Settings by Christina Kharel

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good value for money but design flaws are annoying.

Really too compact. The hole in the receiver is too small so not all soils get in. The base of the machine and our stand must be wiped clean after use. It has a digital cup measurement which I assume is related to the second grind. The 6 cup grind setting will definitely yield 8-10 cups depending on how much you like the strength of your drink. (The cup setting is not clearly labeled and very difficult to see in the kitchen in the morning) 2 months later I'm still trying to figure out the grind calibration. There's a lot of guesswork between cup settings and rudeness settings. I used Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee, so the litter in the thickets was very expensive. The bean hopper is pretty small and I fill it up all the time. However, I stopped by Brands Mart (US national store) and saw other units with the same size funnel, so I think this one is pretty standard. If the size is positive, the cut corresponds to the grain size. You won't find large chunks of grain in a fine grind. Once you've got the settings to your liking, the drink is amazing - fresh and delicious. Just don't change them because they're hard to get back (let's say you suddenly need an 8-cup pot). I also discovered that there is art in beans too. You can't blame the car. Some brands/types of beans are drier than others, some contain more oil. This can cause the grist to absorb more water in the basket. The 8 cups of water you pour into the tank makes less than 6 cups of coffee, or vice versa, the water can flow through and produce coffee-flavored water. I included all of this in the review because I don't know where the calibration line is - if it is in the unit, are there any considerations I didn't think of before purchasing. It's quite an expensive device, but then the next level of grinder leap would be over $100. The next thought is that you'll probably want to upgrade your coffee pot to one with raindrops, rather than one that just has a few small drip lines. I also have to stir the basket in the pot when brewing because the beans get the same amount of water. I give it 3 stars for my initial complaints (cup size, grind size, small capacity that loses grind as the beans need to be cleaned) but the price is good if you don't want to shell out an extra $100 for a next level machine .

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Not as good as it says
