It lightens my gray hair, softens the brassy tone of previously colored hair and gives a natural iron gray tint to mix it all. The rest of the shampoo is just top notch! My hair is soft, smells great and I haven't used conditioner for the first time in ages. Buy this one, it's great. A NOTICE. When searching for purple shampoos I noticed that many reviews of different shampoos mentioned it was a waste of money except washing the hair didn't do anything. This is a shampoo, not a purple hair color or conditioner. Balances yellow cast.
