Review on Albrecht Durer 120 Watercolor Pencil Set Tin: Premium Selection for Vibrant Artworks by Lisa Ramirez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits perfectly, dissolves all pencil marks with a little water; but color may not match

Received them today and was SO excited! When I opened the box it was so nicely packaged and the order they came in is just so pleasing to the eye. As soon as I stopped my dizzying dances, I would sit and watch them. They're quite creamy (some colors are a bit "harder" than others) and melt well with water. Even if you press pretty hard, a little water will melt the pencil lines. I would give them 0.1 stars because they don't match perfectly. I mean I had several pens that I bought free and one color (Nougat) is different from the one I bought before. The one from the set is more of an orange-brown, while the one I bought earlier was more of a brown-brown. I tried to take a picture but the picture doesn't show it very well (the star is the one I bought before). To be honest I remember when I swatched the color I didn't really like the color I got either. Luckily I can replace it with the one I bought previously. I compared about 6 or 7 colors I had before and of these only the nougat color was noticeably different. So if you're working on a project and need to match a colour, you can buy these from stock to ensure you get the right shade. and the colors of these watercolor pencils match the colors of the Polychromos pencils). I don't have polychromy, so I can't tell if the colors match. But it's nice to know if I decide to take the plunge and buy Polychromos (probably not as I have Prismacolors and am happy with them).

Pros
  • Highly pigmented 3.3mm leads connected to SV for break resistance
Cons
  • Hard to tell
