I have long debated whether a person who cooks in limited quantities could really justify using these vacuum sealers. I figured they make sense for singles who have no choice but to buy more meat or produce than they need, but they also make sense for a large family who can save money by buying bulk. As for me, I can buy 1 or 2 pounds of beef, chicken, or vegetables, divide them up into portions, and use them in some products for months or even years. I haven't tried sous vide cooking, but this machine will probably work with FoodSaver bags. It's not the most expensive model FoodSaver has to offer, but it has received good reviews on independent review sites. Overall I'm happy with the ease of use and performance, and it might help me resist the temptation to buy frozen pizza at the grocery store when I have easy-to-prepare single-serve portions of more nutritious food at home. Read the instructions carefully!
