There is no date on the batteries!

GOOD - They're good value. NOT SO GOOD - There is no date on the battery. No alkaline battery should be sold without a date. Over time, they lose their stored energy, especially in warm conditions. OTHER COMMENTS. It is high time for manufacturers of electronic devices to design them to run on a single 1.5 volt battery, ie only 1 alkaline cell. Alkaline batteries inside, in series. This means that the probability of failure is 8 times higher than that of a single cell battery. If only one of the 8 cells is weak, the whole battery is so weak. - 20 years ago I understand why a 12 volt battery was used. It was a cheap way to avoid using a voltage/current regulator to boost the voltage of a single 1.5V battery. But nowadays the voltage/current regulator for it is very cheap and tiny. For example, I have a very good inexpensive flashlight that runs on a single 1.5 cell battery that uses a tiny smart voltage/current regulator. The regulator will keep the LED supply voltage above 3 volts until the battery is discharged to about 0.4 volts. This way we get the most out of our batteries, plus there is only one chance of battery failure instead of 8.
