So I ordered Startech for a multi-monitor setup (Thunderbolt + USB3 for external monitors + laptop screen) on the MacBook Air E2014. When searching for questions and feedback, many people say "it works" for older MacBook Airs. The problem is that all/most pages of startech are lists of multiple items, so you don't really know what model number the reviewers bought unless they specifically say so. I found this out AFTER this unit had already arrived and was sitting on my desk not working at all. So to be 100% crystal clear. Startech USB32DPES2 is NOT suitable for MacBook Air E2014 due to driver issues. This definitely won't work for a 2019+ Macbook as it has a USB3 port and not a USBC (like a 2019+ Macbook). If you're trying to connect a different monitor to a pre-2019 MacBook Air model in addition to the one connected to the Thunderbolt port, purchase Startech USB32HD4K Certified DisplayLink instead. This connects perfectly to the USB3 port on a MacBook Air E2014. Install drivers from downloads with the slash displaylink dot com. It works right away and now I have so much monitor real estate I don't know what to do with it.
