I just got this today so haven't been able to test it yet (will update in about a month). I just installed it and it fits perfectly; However, there were no airflow arrows/indicators anywhere. I guessed it based on my previous disposable cabin air filter (I drew the arrows with permanent marker so I'll remember next time). If you look at STEP 6 in my photos it says to follow the section on the back of the "color box" but mine came in a brown box with a small sticker on the front (the back is blank though, the filters inside was sealed in a clear plastic bag). The good thing is that they answered my question pretty quickly (within 24 hours) via the FAQ section. If you could provide me with a picture of the back of the original box that might help. A picture of which direction the airflow should go also helps (because one side has a thicker border than the other).
