What you need for cold travel!

When the weather gets cooler, many riders store their bikes away and dream of the day they can get back on the road. I'm here to tell you that you don't have to be one of those people! These gloves are an essential part of my cold weather outfit. They're designed in a gauntlet style, which means they extend over your wrists to keep you warm and prevent wind from getting into them. Inside they contain 100 grams of Thinsulate to keep you warm and they are made of very nice, durable leather. There is a wonderful balance here. The insulation keeps your hands warm, but there's also ventilation that keeps them from getting TOO HOT and your hands from sweating, which in turn would make them colder. Your joints will be protected by the shell in the event of a crash, and the leather construction keeps them from getting worn out too easily. In my experience, they work best between 35 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Under 35 and you get cold. That's tolerable for a while, but your hands will definitely go numb on a longer ride. Above 45 you reach a temperature where they are too warm and the ventilation cannot keep your hands from sweating, which is uncomfortable and also exposes them to the cold. It is important to note that as they are insulated and made on the thicker and more durable side, you will lose a bit of finger movement compared to regular riding gloves. Clutch and brake levers are still easy to use, but I did find myself a bit "nervous" with the throttle at times due to the lack of "responsiveness" due to the thickness of the gloves. Using my turn signals with these gloves is also a problem. Overall they are worth their money as they do what they promise to do and do it well. They let you ride longer before you have to store your bike for the winter. However, they aren't perfect, so don't expect them to be.
