I'm no expert, but this works for me.
Wanted to surf the web and view stuff on a 40 inch Visio. My laptop has a DisplayPort connection, not HDMI. So I bought it hoping it would help. It works great. When this device is connected to a laptop using an HDMI cable connected to a flat panel display, audio and video are transmitted through Visio. I thought that sound might not be transmitted through this device, but I was wrong! everything I need to watch internet content on a big screen now. I like it!
